Original articles have comment boxes - comments welcome!

Edited by  Fr John Wotherspoon O.M.I.  胡 頌 恆 神 父

The New Translation

More bloggers, more tank people,
wanted  from all parts of the world!

Contact: jdwomi@gmail.com
(notice that tank man is on a crossing!)

Agenda of "Reform of the Reform" tanks:   no more Communion under both kinds, Latin Mass with priest not facing people, no lay people (except altar boys) on sanctuary,
no altar girls, no special ministers, Communion on tongue while kneeling down, no more deacons, more censorship, more control by Rome, Vatican II teaching undermined

Connecticut shootings: 5 items below

Promotion or Provocation?
David Timbs
(Sunday blogger from Australia)
It is entirely possible that Olmsted had become so provocative and aggressively confrontational that he is seen as a liability in the US.
Equally, it might be deduced that he has been rewarded by Rome precisely for those reasons

(c.f. Power behind papal throne
 Team Vatican is becoming ...??

David recommends: Sisters ask for prayer & fasting to support dialogue
with the comment:
a genuine example of seeking conversation & dialogue

Obedient Benedict?  John W
As an English teacher I notice that  "obedient" and "benedict" have seven out of eight letters in common.
I also notice that Benedict says one thing about obedience, but does another.
By his condemnation of Vatican II, Benedict XVI is not obedient to the magisterium. What do you think?
Please add a comment!

Connecticut shootings:
Do we have the courage to stop this?
Nicholas D. Kristof

John Howard - also excellent

 Special readings before Christmas,
today with the theme of  peace
Please add your comments and reflections. How can our broken world have more peace?

Why do we build churches?
The very act of putting up a "church building" says "let the people come to us". It directs our faith away from God and puts it on a building

All My Life
  Martin Mallon
(Tuesday blogger from Ireland)
I came across this beautiful poem by theologian Mary T. Malone. There are so many elements to this poem, that I felt obliged to print it for readers to reflect on. Comments would be appreciated, particularly because each time I read this poem something new strikes me and I am sure I am missing many insights.

When bishops lose their moral authority     David Timbs
(regular blogger from Melbourne)
The Church  has all too often placed institutional honour ahead of its Gospel obligation to its children and other vulnerable ones. No wonder that when it moralises on other issues no one wants to listen

Our religion is Jesus

The thrust of religious leaders is to bind people to their churches by making the church the focus of faith and loyalty and evangelization.
It seems we have lost our sense of intimacy with Jesus, so we call him by his title, rather than by his name
