Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

71 (a): Although “the wickedness of people was great in the earth” (Gen 6:5) and the Lord “was sorry that he had made people on the earth” (Gen 6:6), nonetheless, through Noah, who remained innocent and just, God decided to open a path of salvation. In this way he gave humanity the chance of a new beginning. All it takes is one good person to restore hope! (((a good description of Pope Francis himself!)))

The biblical tradition clearly shows that this renewal entails recovering and respecting the rhythms inscribed in nature by the hand of the Creator. We see this, for example, in the law of the Sabbath. On the seventh day, God rested from all his work. He commanded Israel to set aside each seventh day as a day of rest, a Sabbath, (cf. Gen 2:2-3; Ex 16:23; 20:10).

Similarly, every seven years, a sabbatical year was set aside for Israel, a complete rest for the land (cf. Lev 25:1-4), when sowing was forbidden and one reaped only what was necessary to live on and to feed one’s household (cf. Lev 25:4-6).

A true story for students who are trying to improve their English:

Some years ago when I was teaching English in Zhaoqing in China's Guangdong Province, I had a regular Saturday night English Corner for older students and adults.

One night a 17 year old girl from Beijing joined the group. She spoke really good English

So I asked her "how come your English is so good?"

She replied that for the past six years she had watched 10-15 minutes of the same DVD each day .... gradually remembering all the dialogue and songs ... gradually able to say and sing along with the DVD

The name of the movie? Mulan - whose English is ideal for English students.

For Feast of Birthday of Mary

Micah 5.1-4

The Lord says this: But you, Bethlehem, the least of the clans of Judah, out of you will be born for me, the one who is to rule over Israel. His origin goes back to the distant past, to the days of old.

The Lord's help will be on hold until the time when she who is to give birth, gives birth.

He will stand and feed his flock with the power of the Lord, with the majesty of the name of his God. He himself will be peace.

Romans 8.28-30

We know that by turning everything to their good, God co-operates with all those who love him, with all those he has called according to his purpose.

They are the ones he chose specially long ago and intended to become true images of his Son, so that his Son might be the eldest of many brothers and sisters.

He called those he intended for this; those he called, he justified, and with those he justified, he shared his glory.

 Matthew 1.18-25

This is how Jesus came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph.

But before they lived together,
Mary became pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit.

An angel  appeared to Joseph  in a dream and said

"Joseph, descendant of David,
do not be afraid to live with Mary as your wife".

Her baby has been conceived by the  power of the Holy Spirit.
She will give birth to a son.

You must name him 'Jesus' ('God saves') because he will save his people from their sins."

Joseph  took Mary to his home as his wife. She gave birth to a son, Jesus.

Dear Jesus, Son of God, son of Mary, step-son of Joseph, please help me understand how you are the Saviour of the world

114. Being Church means being God’s people, in accordance with the great plan of his fatherly love. This means that we are to be God’s leaven in the midst of humanity.

It means proclaiming and bringing God’s salvation into our world, which often goes astray and needs to be encouraged, given hope and strengthened on the way.

The Church must be a place of mercy freely given, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven and encouraged to live the good life of the Gospel.

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD - A TRUE STORY:

George Phillips, an elderly man from Walled Lake, Michigan, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me. Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available"

George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both; the dogs are eating them right now," and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
  George said,

"I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

70. In the story of Cain and Abel, we see how envy led Cain to commit the ultimate injustice against his brother, which in turn ruptured the relationship between Cain and God, and between Cain and the earth from which he was banished.

This is seen clearly in the dramatic exchange between God and Cain. God asks: “Where is Abel your brother?” Cain answers that he does not know, and God persists: “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground. And now you are cursed from the ground” (Gen 4:9-11).

Disregard for the duty to cultivate and maintain a proper relationship with my neighbour, for whose care and custody I am responsible, ruins my relationship with my own self, with others, with God and with the earth.

When all these relationships are neglected, when justice no longer dwells in the land, the Bible tells us that life itself is endangered.

We see this in the story of Noah, where God threatens to do away with humanity because of its constant failure to fulfil the requirements of justice and peace: “I have determined to make an end of all flesh; for the earth is filled with violence through them” (Gen 6:13).

These ancient stories, full of symbolism, bear witness to a conviction which we today share, that everything is interconnected, and that genuine care for our own lives and our relationships with nature is inseparable from fraternity, justice and faithfulness to others.

Psalm 107 (a)  (Desert ..)

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His great love is without end.

Let them say this, those the Lord has helped, people from east and west, north and south.

Some people wandered in the desert, lost and unable to find their way to safety.

In their hunger and thirst they cried to the Lord for help. He rescued them and showed them the way to safety.

Let them thank the Lord for his love, for he fills the hungry with good things.

My recording of this reading

Psalm 107 (b)  (Prison ..)

Some people were prisoners in misery and chains, living in darkness and gloom.

In their distress they cried to the Lord for help. He rescued them and restored their freedom.

Let them thank the Lord for his goodness, for he shatters the iron bars of prisons.

Recording

Psalm 107 (c) (Sickness ..)

Some people were sick on account of their sins, unable to eat,  and close to death.

They cried to the Lord in their need. He healed them and saved them from the grave.

Let them thank the Lord for his love, for the wonders he does for us.

Recording

All our problems, difficulties and trials can be summed up by the four images of this psalm: desert, prison, sickness, storm ...from all of which the Lord rescues us!

Psalm 107 (d) (Storms ..)

Some people sailed to the sea in ships and were caught in terrifying storms.

They cried to the Lord in their need, and he calmed the sea and wind.

Let them thank the Lord for his love, for the wonders he does for us.

Whoever is wise should meditate on these things and reflect on the love of the Lord.

Thank you Lord, for your rescuing love

113. The salvation which God has wrought, and the Church joyfully proclaims, is for everyone. God has found a way to unite himself to every human being in every age. He has chosen to call them together as a people and not as isolated individuals.

No one is saved by himself or herself, individually, or by his or her own efforts. God attracts us by taking into account the complex interweaving of personal relationships entailed in the life of a human community

This people which God has chosen and called is the Church. Jesus did not tell the apostles to form an exclusive and elite group. He said: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19).

Saint Paul tells us in the people of God, in the Church, “there is neither Jew or Greek... for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:28).

To those who feel far from God and the Church, to all those who are fearful or indifferent, I would like to say this: the Lord, with great respect and love, is also calling you to be a part of his people!

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

69. Together with our obligation to use the earth’s goods responsibly, we are called to recognize that other living beings have a value of their own in God’s eyes: “by their mere existence they bless him and give him glory”,[41] and indeed, “the Lord rejoices in all his works” (Ps 104:31).

By virtue of our unique dignity and our gift of intelligence, we are called to respect creation and its inherent laws, for “the Lord by wisdom founded the earth” (Prov 3:19).

In our time, the Church does not simply state that other creatures are completely subordinated to the good of human beings, as if they have no worth in themselves and can be treated as we wish. The German bishops have taught that, where other creatures are concerned, “we can speak of the priority of being over that of being useful”.[42]

The Catechism clearly and forcefully criticizes a distorted anthropocentrism: “Each creature possesses its own particular goodness and perfection… Each of the various creatures, willed in its own being, reflects in its own way a ray of God’s infinite wisdom and goodness. We  must therefore respect the particular goodness of every creature, to avoid any disordered use of things”.[43]

01   Three old guys are out walking.
First one says, 'Windy, isn't it?'
Second one says, 'No, it's Thursday!'
Third one says, 'So am I. Let's go get a beer..'

02   An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years.
He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%. The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, 'Your hearing is perfect.. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.' The gentleman replied, 'Oh, I haven't told my family yet.  I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!'

Isaiah 33-35

Strengthen all weary hands, steady all trembling knees, and say to all faint hearts "Courage! Do not be afraid. The Lord is coming to save you."

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, the ears of the deaf unsealed.

Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongues of the dumb sing for joy.

Exiles will return to Zion shouting for joy, everlasting joy on their faces.

Joy and gladness will go with them. Sorrow and lament will be ended.

Lord, please heal the friends I know who are blind, deaf, dumb....

Psalm 146

My soul, give praise to the Lord.
I will praise the Lord all my days.

Put no trust in princes, in mortal men in whom there is no help. Take their breath, they return to clay, and their plans that day come to nothing.

They are happy who are helped by Jacob's God, whose hope is in the Lord our God, who alone made heaven and earth, the seas and all they contain.

It is he who gives bread to the hungry, the Lord, who sets prisoners free.

It is the Lord who gives sight to the blind, who raises up those who are bowed down.

It is the Lord who protects the stranger, and upholds the widow and orphan.

It is the Lord who loves the just
but thwarts the path of the wicked.

The Lord will reign for ever,
Zion's God, from age to age.

Lord, please increase my trust and faith in you

James 2.1-13

Don't try to combine faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord, with the making of distinctions between classes of people

Suppose two men come into your prayer meeting, one beautifully dressed and with a gold ring; the other poor and in shabby clothes

If you welcome the rich man, and look down on the poor man, you are making a big mistake

It was those who are poor according to the world that God chose to be rich in faith

So, never make distinctions between classes of people.
Everyone is your neighbor. Love your neighbor as yourself

There will be judgment without mercy for people who have not been merciful. But merciful people need have no fear of judgment

Jesus, help me treat everyone equally and fairly. No favorites

Jesus took the man aside in private, away from the crowd.
He put his fingers into the man's ears and put spittle on his tongue.

Then he prayed and said "Be opened".

The man's ears were opened and his speech became normal.

The people said "He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak".

112. The salvation which God offers us is the work of his mercy. No human efforts, however good they may be, can enable us to merit so great a gift. God, by his sheer grace, draws us to himself and makes us one with him.

He sends his Spirit into our hearts to make us his children, transforming us and enabling us to respond to his love by our lives. The Church is sent by Jesus Christ as the sacrament of the salvation offered by God.

Through her evangelizing activity, she cooperates as an instrument of that divine grace which works unceasingly and inscrutably. Benedict XVI put it nicely at the beginning of the Synod’s reflections: “It is important always to know that the first word, the true initiative, the true activity comes from God and only by inserting ourselves into the divine initiative, only (by) begging for this divine initiative, shall we too be able to become – with him and in him – evangelizers”.

This principle of the primacy of grace must be a beacon which constantly illuminates our reflections on evangelization.

03  A man was telling his neighbor, 'I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand dollars, but it's state of the art.. It's perfect.' 'Really,' answered the neighbor . 'What kind is it?'    The man answered 'Twelve thirty..'

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

68. This responsibility for God’s earth means that human beings, endowed with intelligence, must respect the laws of nature and the delicate equilibria existing between the creatures of this world, for “he commanded and they were created; and he established them for ever and ever; he fixed their bounds and he set a law which cannot pass away” (Ps 148:5b-6).

The laws found in the Bible dwell on relationships, not only among individuals but also with other living beings. “You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and withhold your help… If you chance to come upon a bird’s nest in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs and the mother sitting upon the young or upon the eggs; you shall not take the mother with the young” (Dt 22:4, 6).

Along these same lines, rest on the seventh day is meant not only for human beings, but also so “that your ox and your donkey may have rest” (Ex 23:12).

Clearly, the Bible has no place for a tyrannical anthropocentrism unconcerned for other creatures.

111. Evangelization is the task of the Church. The Church, as the agent of evangelization, is more than an organic and hierarchical institution; she is first and foremost a people advancing on its pilgrim way towards God.

She is certainly a mystery rooted in the Trinity, yet she exists concretely in history as a people of pilgrims and evangelizers, transcending any institutional expression, however necessary.

I would like to dwell briefly on this way of understanding the Church, whose ultimate foundation is in the free and gracious initiative of God.

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

67. We are not God. The earth was here before us and it has been given to us. This allows us to respond to the charge that Judaeo-Christian thinking, on the basis of the Genesis account which grants us “dominion” over the earth (cf. Gen 1:28), has encouraged the unbridled exploitation of nature by painting us as inherently domineering and destructive. This is not a correct interpretation of the Bible as understood by the Church.

Although it is true that we Christians have at times incorrectly interpreted the Scriptures, nowadays we must forcefully reject the notion that our being created in God’s image and given dominion over the earth justifies absolute domination over other creatures.

The biblical texts are to be read in their context, with an appropriate hermeneutic, recognizing that they tell us to “till and keep” the garden of the world (cf. Gen 2:15). “Tilling” refers to cultivating, ploughing or working, while “keeping” means caring, protecting, overseeing and preserving.

This implies a relationship of mutual responsibility between human beings and nature. Each community can take from the bounty of the earth whatever it needs for subsistence, but it also has the duty to protect the earth and to ensure its fruitfulness for coming generations.

“The earth is the Lord’s” (Ps 24:1); to him belongs “the earth with all that is within it” (Dt 10:14). Thus God rejects every claim to absolute ownership: “The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with me” (Lev 25:23).

Numbers 9

Whenever the Israelites pitched camp, the Cloud of God's presence covered the Sacred Tent.

From nightfall until morning, the Cloud took the appearance of fire.

Whenever the Cloud lifted above the Tent, the Israelites broke camp.

Wherever the Cloud stopped, there the Israelites pitched camp.

Sometimes the Cloud stayed in one place for one day, sometimes for a month, sometimes a year.

However long the Cloud stayed above the Tent, the Israelites remained in camp.

In this way they pitched camp and broke camp at the Lord's command

The Cloud in Christian tradition is understood to be God the Holy Spirit, so we can pray: Dear Holy Spirit, please lead me and guide me just as you guided the Israelites through the desert

Psalm 105

Give thanks to the Lord, make known his deeds among all the peoples.

O sing to him, sing his praise.
Tell all his wonderful works.

Be proud of his holy name. Let hearts that seek the Lord rejoice.

Consider the Lord and his strength. Constantly seek his face.

Never forget how the Lord has helped us in the past, how he has protected Israel from its beginning till now.

Dear God, please help me understand how you have been loving and protecting me since the beginning of my life

Revelation 22.1-5

Then an angel showed me the River of Life, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb,
flowing crystal-clear through the middle of the city

Here God's servants will worship him. They will see him face to face, and his name will be written on their foreheads

It will never be night again. They will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will be shining on them

Jesus, may your name be written on my forehead

Today's Gospel:

Mark 1.1-8

This is the story of the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Long ago God said through the prophet Isaiah "I am going to send my messenger before you. He will prepare your way. A voice cries out in the wilderness: prepare a way for the Lord".

And so it was that John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

As the people were baptized by John in the river Jordan, they confessed their sins.

John wore a garment of camel skin. Locusts and wild honey were his food.

He said to the people "Someone is coming who is more important than I am. I am not worthy to kneel down and undo his sandal straps.

I baptize you with water. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit".

Jesus, please help us prepare a way for you like John the Baptist

Abortion - Pope John Paul II:

I would now like to say a special word to women who have had an abortion. The Church is aware of the many factors that may have influenced your decision.... You will come to understand that nothing is definitively lost and you will also be able to ask forgiveness from your child, who is now living in the Lord. With the help and advice of other people, and as a result of your own painful experience, you can be among the most eloquent defenders of everyone's right to life. Through your commitment to life, whether by accepting the birth of other children or by welcoming and caring for those most in need of someone to be close to them, you will become promoters of a new way of looking at human life. - full text in: What Pope Francis Said About Abortion

110. After having considered some of the challenges of the present, I would now like to speak of the task which bears upon us in every age and place, for “there can be no true evangelization without the explicit proclamation of Jesus as Lord”, and without “the primacy of the proclamation of Jesus Christ in all evangelizing work”.

Acknowledging the concerns of the Asian bishops, John Paul II told them that if the Church “is to fulfil its providential destiny, evangelization as the joyful, patient and progressive preaching of the saving death and resurrection of Jesus Christ must be your absolute priority.” These words hold true for all of us.

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

66. The creation accounts in the book of Genesis contain, in their own symbolic and narrative language, profound teachings about human existence and its historical reality. They suggest that human life is grounded in three fundamental and closely intertwined relationships: with God, with our neighbour and with the earth itself. According to the Bible, these three vital relationships have been broken, both outwardly and within us.

This rupture is sin. The harmony between the Creator, humanity and creation as a whole was disrupted by our presuming to take the place of God and refusing to acknowledge our creaturely limitations. This in turn distorted our mandate to “have dominion” over the earth (cf. Gen 1:28), to “till it and keep it” (Gen 2:15). As a result, the originally harmonious relationship between human beings and nature became conflictual (cf. Gen 3:17-19).

It is significant that the harmony which Saint Francis of Assisi experienced with all creatures was seen as a healing of that rupture. Saint Bonaventure held that, through universal reconciliation with every creature, Saint Francis in some way returned to the state of original innocence.[40] This is a far cry from our situation today, where sin is manifest in all its destructive power in wars, the various forms of violence and abuse, the abandonment of the most vulnerable, and attacks on nature.

Psalm 104 (a)

Bless the Lord, my soul! Lord God, how great you are.

You make the clouds your chariot. You walk on the wings of the wind.

You make springs gush forth in the valleys. They give drink to all the animals of the field.

You make grass grow for the cattle, and plants to provide food for people.

You give us wine to cheer our hearts, and oil to make our faces shine.

You made the moon to mark the months. The sun knows the time for its setting.

How many are your works, O Lord. In wisdom you have made them all.

and the sea is swarming with life.

All things, great and small, look to you for food. You open your hand, they have their fill.

You send forth your spirit, and life is created. You renew the face of the earth.

I will sing to the Lord all my life.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him.

Bless the Lord, my soul!

Teach them to understand and live according to my words. And know that

Pope tells priests to pardon women who have abortions
- he is making official what has been happening in practice for a long time.
- abortion is a tragedy, a crime, a sin, but "excommunication" for abortion mothers is a heartless law (especially for women who have been pressured into having abortions, as in China) that should be reformulated. It's an unjust law. A woman who has been forced to have an abortion - by her husband or by her government - is surely not regarded by God as "excommunicated".

108.
As I mentioned above, I have not sought to offer a complete diagnosis, but I invite communities to complete and enrich these perspectives on the basis of their awareness of the challenges facing them and their neighbours.

It is my hope that, in doing so, they will realize that whenever we attempt to read the signs of the times it is helpful to listen to young people and the elderly. Both represent a source of hope for every people.

The elderly bring with them memory and the wisdom of experience, which warns us not to foolishly repeat our past mistakes. Young people call us to renewed and expansive hope, for they represent new directions for humanity and open us up to the future, lest we cling to a nostalgia for structures and customs which are no longer life-giving in today’s world.

109. Challenges exist to be overcome! Let us be realists, but without losing our joy, our boldness and our hope-filled commitment. Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of missionary vigour!

Pope's letter on climate change:
Laudato Si
     我主應受讚美

65 (b): Saint John Paul II stated that the special love of the Creator for each human being “confers upon him or her an infinite dignity”.[38]

Those who are committed to defending human dignity can find in the Christian faith the deepest reasons for this commitment.

How wonderful is the certainty that each human life is not adrift in the midst of hopeless chaos, in a world ruled by pure chance or endlessly recurring cycles!

The Creator says to each one of us: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” (Jer 1:5). We were conceived in the heart of God, and for this reason “each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary”.[39]

Psalm 103

My soul, give thanks to the Lord.
All my being, bless his holy name.
My soul, give thanks to the Lord
and never forget all his blessings.

It is he who forgives all your guilt, who heals every one of your ills. It is he who fills your life with good things, renewing your youth like an eagle's life.

The Lord is compassion and love,
slow to anger and rich in mercy.

As the heavens are high above the earth, so strong is his love for those who love him. As far as the East is from the West, so far does he remove our sins.

As a father has compassion on his children, the Lord has pity on all who love and honor him.

Give thanks to the Lord, all his angels, who heed the voice of his word. Give thanks to the Lord, everyone and everything. My soul, give thanks to the Lord!

Thank you, Lord, for your love and compassion

Matthew 28.1-15

Jesus died on Friday afternoon.
Early on Sunday morning, two women went to Jesus' tomb.

Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, and an angel from heaven came and rolled away the big stone at the tomb's entrance.
The guards at the tomb were terrified of the angel.

The angel said to the women "Do not be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here. He has risen from the dead. Go and tell his disciples he has risen from the dead and will see them in Galilee".

The women were filled with joy and ran to tell this news to the disciples.

As they left the tomb area, Jesus himself appeared to them and said  "Do not be afraid. Go and tell the disciples they must go to Galilee. They will see me there".

Lord Jesus, by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
You are the Savior of the world.

106. Even if it is not always easy to approach young people, progress has been made in two areas: the awareness that the entire community is called to evangelize and educate the young, and the urgent need for the young to exercise greater leadership.

We should recognize that despite the present crisis of commitment and communal relationships, many young people are making common cause before the problems of our world and are taking up various forms of activism and volunteer work. Some take part in the life of the Church as members of service groups and various missionary initiatives in their own dioceses and in other places.

How beautiful it is to see that young people are “street preachers” (callejeros de la fe), joyfully bringing Jesus to every street, every town square and every corner of the earth!

The preacher's 5 year-old daughter noticed that her father always paused and bowed his head for a moment before starting his sermon. One day, she asked him why.

"Well, Honey," he began, proud that his daughter was so observant of his messages. "I'm asking the Lord to help me preach a good sermon."

"How come He doesn't help you?" she asked.

II. THE WISDOM OF THE BIBLICAL ACCOUNTS

65 (a): Without repeating the entire theology of creation, we can ask what the great biblical narratives say about the relationship of human beings with the world.

In the first creation account in the Book of Genesis, God’s plan includes creating humanity. After the creation of man and woman, “God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good” (Gen 1:31).
The Bible teaches that every man and woman is created out of love and made in God’s image and likeness (cf. Gen 1:26).

This shows us the immense dignity of each person, “who is not just something, but someone. He/she is capable of self-knowledge, of self-possession and of freely giving himself/herself and entering into communion with other persons”.[37]

------------------------

One way to show more care for creation is to make an effort to read a bit of Laudato Si each day! Hope many readers are joining me in this venture. And then let's try to put the Pope's ideas into practice

Joseph from Arimathaea was a rich man who had become a disciple of Jesus. After Jesus died on Friday, he asked Governor Pilate for Jesus' body.

Joseph wrapped the body in a clean burial cloth and put it in his own new tomb in a rock cave. He then put a large stone at the cave's entrance.

The next day, Saturday,  the religious leaders went to Pilate and said "This imposter said he would rise from the dead after 3 days. Therefore you should secure the tomb in case his disciples steal the body and say he has risen from the dead".

Pilate gave them a guard and told them to secure the tomb. The guards took up their position at the tomb, and seals were put on the entrance stone.

 105. Youth ministry, as traditionally organized, has also suffered the impact of social changes. Young people often fail to find responses to their concerns, needs, problems and hurts in the usual structures.

As adults, we find it hard to listen patiently to them, to appreciate their concerns and demands, and to speak to them in a language they can understand. For the same reason, our efforts in the field of education do not produce the results expected.

The rise and growth of associations and movements mostly made up of young people can be seen as the work of the Holy Spirit, who blazes new trails to meet their expectations and their search for a deep spirituality and a more real sense of belonging.

There remains a need, however, to ensure that these associations actively participate in the Church’s overall pastoral efforts.
