California bill threatens religious freedom, minorities and the poor
Detailed provisions in the legislation include rules for bathroom use and sleeping arrangements in dormitories. The bill even has the government setting guidelines for what “religious practices” and “rules for moral conduct” will be acceptable on these campuses.

ChristianMingle.com an online dating service for Christian singles, has been ordered to include people who want to seek out same-sex relationships through their website. Two homosexual men filed lawsuits claiming the site violated California’s anti-discrimination law. Read more here

June 5: Words in danger of becoming illegal if the Rainbow Agenda has its way:

male, female, boy, girl, man, woman, wife, husband, mother, father, daughter, son, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, grand daughter, grandson, nephew, niece, maternal, paternal, (hen, rooster?!)

Yet another challenge is posed by the various forms of an ideology of gender that “denies the difference and reciprocity in nature of a man and a woman and envisages a society without sexual differences, thereby eliminating the anthropological basis of the family.

This ideology leads to educational programs and legislative enactments that promote a personal identity and emotional intimacy radically separated from the biological difference between male and female. Consequently, human identity becomes the choice of the individual, one which can also change over time”.⁴⁵

It is a source of concern that some ideologies of this sort, which seek to respond to what are at times understandable aspirations, manage to assert themselves as absolute and unquestionable, even dictating how children should be raised.

It needs to be emphasized that “biological sex and the socio-cultural role of sex (gender) can be distinguished but not separated”.⁴⁶

On the other hand, “the techno-logical revolution in the field of human procreation has introduced the ability to manipulate the reproductive act, making it independent of the sexual relationship between a man and a woman. In this way, human life and parenthood have become modular and separable realities, subject mainly to the wishes of individuals or couples”.⁴⁷

It is one thing to be understanding of human weakness and the complexities of life, and another to accept ideologies that attempt to sunder what are inseparable aspects of reality.

Let us not fall into the sin of trying to replace the Creator. We are creatures, and not omnipotent. Creation is prior to us and must be received as a gift. At the same time, we are called to protect our humanity, and this means, in the first place, accepting it and respecting it as it was created.

How can this be happening? The world is going crazy.... I got half way through this article and stopped .... too distressing. Why is Obama doing this? He's a family man with two daughters. How could he authorise such madness? Stand by for the rainbow lobby to push for this in other countries.....groan....

Under the Obama administration's policies, a man can declare himself a female and be assigned as the year-long roommate of a nubile, possibly underage, co-ed. If the college tells the young lady her roommate is a biological male without his express consent, it could be sued.

May 26: Doctor responds to questions on "marriage equality"
"We oppose same-sex 'marriage' because it is a package deal that brings with it the entire radical rainbow agenda.

Gay ‘Marriage’ Guarantees Gay Sex Education
In some countries the words "father" and "mother" are being replaced by "parent one" and "parent two". Now, according to this article, the words "boys" and "girls" are also being deleted. How did we ever get to this crazy stage? Lord, have mercy! And may I repeat what I've said before: the above radical agenda is exactly that ...the radical agenda of radical homosexuals. It's not the agenda of the vast majority of "gay" people.

For Australia and its alleged open spirit of debate, this is an unprecedented situation. It reveals an aggressive secularism dressed in the moral cause of anti-discrimination justice but with a long-run agenda that seeks to transform our values and, ultimately, drive religion into the shadows. The vanguard for this drive is the same-sex marriage campaign.

This is disgraceful. I feel so sorry for Cardinal John Tong. He doesn't deserve this .... and in a Catholic institution. What are we supposed to do? Encourage people to follow the gay life style?

I'd be grateful if someone would tell me if Australia's Eureka Street has had anything about the prosecution charge against Archbishop Porteous of Hobart.
This issue is a huge one ....involving freedom of speech as well as freedom of religion, but so far - correct me if I'm wrong - it has not made it to ES. If not, then the question is: why not? Because it involves criticising the gay agenda?

To see where HK's proposed "Sexual Orientation Discrimination Ordinance" and Australia's attack on traditional marriage teaching are coming from and going to, please read this disturbing article:

I suspect that the vast majority of gay people - certainly the people in HK I minister to - have little interest in a "gay agenda". I suspect that the people pushing the agenda are the extremists of the gay population.

Yesterday's menu, below, had a story about an Australian Archbishop being prosecuted for speaking of marriage as just between man and woman. Hong Kong's Cardinal John Tong also has been in the firing line for the same thing. Secular media have had many items criticising him.

But what is surprising, and sad, is that Catholic media are also carrying stories critical of the cardinal.

If HK is not careful, the same thing will happen here as is happening in Australia (c.f. "Disturbing news") and has already happened in other places.

Disturbing news from Australia:
Archbishop to be prosecuted for distributing the pamphlet Don't Mess with Marriage supporting marriage between man and woman. I just quickly re-read Don't Mess with Marriage, produced by the Australian bishops. It's incredible to think that such a document could be illegal. Freedom of speech??? Sadly, this situation already exists in some other countries.

Maybe the time has come for Christians and other concerned people in Australia to form a new political party ....to elect a senator in each state ...to fight for Christian values.

How schools in US are teaching gay life style, starting in kindergarten .... denying parents the right to opt their children out of such classes. Plus polygamy ruling. Countries that have not yet adopted "same-sex marriage" must wake up to where "ssm" leads!

June 7: In early 2012, I asked the late Brian Lewis, one of Australia's most eminent moral theologians, for his thoughts about "same-sex marriage". His reply email said: "Dear John, I spent a lot of time last year stewing about the gay marriage issue. The result of this was my article in Compass, last year. You are very welcome to use this". About 1975 I was on a train from Sydney to Melbourne, and in the buffet car I shared a breakfast table with the late Kevin Stewart, a prominent NSW politician, whose brother Frank was a federal politician.

In talking about Lionel Murphy's aims (above) I was stunned by Kevin's chilling words which I have never forgotten: "Murphy is an evil man"

As the Australian parliament considers the legalisation of "same-sex marriage", I wonder why the Australian bishops' excellent letter Don't mess with marriage is receiving virtually zero treatment in mainstream Australian media? (stop press: one very negative article, by an "education writer" (?) who uses the term "Mr Hart")

And correct me if I'm wrong, but why hasn't the letter received any mention in the Catholic sites Eureka Street and UCANews, both of which often have articles supporting "same-sex marriage"?

June 4: New website: The Australian Marriage Forum (AMF) is an organisation that has been set up to encourage Australians to discuss the issue of same-sex marriage with discernment and caution

"The ire of the king was particularly inflamed against the Christians because they refused to accede to demands to participate in sexual acts with him. Charles Lwanga, in particular, had protected the pages from King Mwanga's sexual advance"

Like John the Baptist, Charles and companions died for the Biblical teaching on sexuality - something to think about as governments try to legalise "same-sex marriage"

On the menu of May 30 and May 31 (below) I lamented the fact that so many Catholic websites are supporting "same-sex marriage". To the list of sites can be added Eureka Street (Australia). Note the cartoon at this pro "same-sex marriage" article. Also note some of the comments ...I'm not the only lamenter.

June 1: "Same-sex marriage"
Many articles about the recent referendum in Ireland point out how voters were influenced by two prominent Catholic women (one a former president, the other a media personality) who spoke in favor of "same-sex marriage".

Which suggests that in other countries where the "SSM" debate is going on, the Church might be better served by encouraging prominent lay Christians to speak up for family life ...rather than letting the bishops do the speaking (...especially in places where the Church is in shame mode because of child abuse)

May 31: I have mixed feelings about the article below re the Irish referendum on " same-sex marriage". Overall, the article is favorable to " same-sex marriage" .... and this is the worry. The article is in one of the world's most respected Catholic magazines, The Tablet. But the implications of " same-sex marriage" are mind-boggling ...see especially page 13 of this letter by the Australian bishops. Same-sex marriage is an attack on the foundation stone of society: the family. Yet so many Catholic magazines and websites are now supporting such an attack (see menu of May 30, below). Lord, have mercy!

Clear challenge to Church in Ireland

May 30: This article in America Magazine Same-Sex Marriage Goes to a Popular Vote in Ireland has published my comment. But other Catholic sites UCANews ("Asia's most trusted independent Catholic news source"???), the Association of Catholic Priests (Ireland) and Crux (USA) would not publish the same comment.

Notice how America does not, like National Catholic Reporter, espouse a pro-gay policy. Notice also how pro-gay articles are increasingly more frequent on the three other sites.

Question: what's driving the pro-gay stance of so many Catholic websites? I guess there's little chance the same sites will publish the Australian bishops letters on "same-sex marriage". This is a worrying type of censorship.

May 22: Referendum in Ireland today on legalisation of "gay marriage".
In the past week, three Catholic websites - The Association of Catholic Priests (Ireland), Crux and UCANews - have refused to publish my "gay marriage" comment which uses my article Elephants in men's room. All three sites, and other Catholic sites like NCR, have a strong "gay marriage" agenda. What does this say?

What surprises me most is the crusade (too strong a word?) in many Catholic media sites on behalf of "gay marriage"

So why am I against "gay marriage". For medical reasons - as I've tried to explain in this in this article

May 13: Barely a day passes without some Catholic website publishing an article supporting "gay marriage". Anyone who disagrees is ridiculed, and branded as homophobic. But the cold, hard, medical facts of the dangers of a homosexual life-style won't go away. See my file Elephants in men's room
