O Holy Spirit, please guide me
as I read these passages for today.

Two Kings 4
A poor widow whose husband had
been a prophet asked Elisha for help
All she had was a small pot of oil, not enough to pay her debts.
Elisha told her to get many jars,
As she and her sons did this, the oil
did not run out.
At another time Elisha brought back to life a dead child.
He also once brought about a miraculous multiplication of bread.
Dear God, you once
worked miracles by the prayers of Elisha.
O Lord, you search me and you know me.
You know exactly what's going on in my
Before ever a word is on my tongue,
Your knowledge is beyond my
It was you who created my being,
I thank you for the wonder of my life,
Lord, thank you for the
gift of life.
1 Timothy 4
Do not let people disregard you because
you are young.
You have in you a spiritual gift which
was given you when the church elders prayed over you
Take great care about what you do and
what you teach.
Jesus, help me be a good example to other people
Jesus told this story to the people: There was a rich man who used to dress in expensive clothes
and feast magnificently every day
At his gate there was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
who longed to eat scraps that fell from the rich man's table.
Dogs even came and licked his sores
The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried. In his torment in Hell,
the rich man looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus at his side
So the rich man cried out "Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames"
"My son", replied Abraham, "remember that during your life,
good things came your way, just as bad things came the way of Lazarus.
Now he is being comforted here, while you are in agony"
Jesus, please help me understand how I should do more to help poor people
