I attended a talk on adoration of the Eucharist last night (Dec 11) at the Diocese Centre.  Bishop Athanasius Schneider talked about the crisis of the Church in permitting communion in the hand.  In brief he stressed that we should only receive it from the hand of a priest and into our mouth while we kneel down.  The present practice leaves much to be desired - fragments of the host falling onto the ground and blood spilled over because of carelessness of the parishioners....He said if you love Him it should be whole person receiving with inside n outside respect.  Walking up with hand is minimal adoration and " taking " almost like queuing up for fast food.  He said adoration just in heart is minimal respect. Jesus told us to be like a child - we should be fed (by the mouth) like a child, not take it by our hand.  The use of our hand to receive it and to dip it on our own into the wine (blood) is not right.  In fact Jesus at the last supper put the bread into the mouth of the apostles.  He also said only priests can touch the host - Jesus once told a woman not to touch him, but asked Thomas to touch His body.  A friend who attended the talk said I had a "serious problem" when I told her I am not going to kneel down and receive  Holy Communion by mouth

As I see it, Bishop Schneider has two main problems:

1: The Second Vatican Council  (he's opposed to much of its teaching and to its overall spirit)

2: Pope Francis (he's 100% for the teaching and spirit of Vatican II, and he has refused to use the 1962 Mass which Bishop Schneider uses most (?) of the time and which Pope Paul VI described as "a condemnation of Vatican II")

Bishop Schneider's position on many topics is very close to the schismatic SSPX

Bishop Schnieder is on a collision course with Pope Francis, just like the SSPX was on a collision course with previous popes

My advice to good people puzzled/disturbed by Bishop Schneider is: stop breathing his poisonous air. Rather, breathe the fresh air of the Holy Spirit found in the daily messages of Pope Francis at this site

p.s. In the email above, there are several pieces of nonsense: e.g.
"Jesus at the last supper put the bread into the mouth of the apostles" -  rubbish and wrong, with absolutely no foundation in the Bible or anywhere else  (...Jesus said to the Last Supper group "take and eat, take and drink", not "receive and eat"

also: I can't find any article anywhere exposing Bishop Schneider's false teaching.
