Literature and the arts are also of great importance to the life of the Church.
They strive to make known our deeper nature,
our problems and experiences in trying to know and improve both ourselves and the world.
They reveal our place in history and in the world.
They illustrate our miseries and joys,
our needs and strengths,
while with foreshadowing a better life for us.
Thus they elevate human life
