Based on the Vatican 2 document:

Ad Gentes  - 15

For Pope John XXIII, one of the main aims of Vatican II was ecumenism.
So it is no surprise that in all of Vatican II's 16 documents, ecumenism is given a prominent place ....something unheard of in previous centuries

Article 15 of Ad Gentes says that "the ecumenical spirit should be nurtured in new Catholics"....very different from previous centuries when new Catholics were taught about the "evils of Protestantism" etc

Would that this ecumenical spirit was always reciprocated.
Unfortunately many pastors of other denominations still propagate the idea that "Protestants worship Jesus, Catholics worship Mary"....even though they know that Catholics do not worship Mary

Jesus, may the ecumenical spirit grow among Christians
