John 8.1-11

This gospel is about the woman caught in the act of adultery. When the scribes and Pharisees confronted Jesus, he acted as a scribe and twice scribbled on the ground. The first time maybe he wrote down a list of the names of the scribes and Pharisees. The scribes and Pharisees were too dumb or too proud to realize the writing was on the wall, so to speak. They again pressed Jesus for a reply to their question. So Jesus did a bit more scribbling. Maybe he wrote an embarrassing fact beside each name. The scribes and Pharisees then started leaving one by one. Maybe as each fact appeared, that person left. Surely one name with details should have made the whole group take off.  But they left "one by one" .... maybe only when their name hit the dirt. Until only one scribe remained - Jesus.
